I'm on Nardil. My husband and I were going to have mexican tonight. I wanted to get quesadillas but didn't b/c I don't know if mexican type cheeses are safe or not. I've googled the hell out of this question to no avail. Does anyone know? It's hard for me b/c I'm a vegetarian, and I usually rely on cheese when we eat out. Another example is what about Indian type cheese, eg that used in mutter paneer?

> KatYou should be fine, especially on such a low dose. I eat Mexican and pizza all the time on 75 mg. I think it's the obscure (and nasty IMO) aged cheeses that you have to watch out for. Hopefully someone can chime in with more specifics.

> KatWell, i didn't have the quesadillas. i had veggie tacos that sucked. but i'm sure they were better for me, even though i don't really give a rat's *ss about that. HOWEVER, enndub has kindly provided me with some hope, and i did find out i can definitely still have delicious mutter paneer.. so all in all it's ok, besides the fact that tonight's dinner sucked. but i'm in a crappy mood b/c i'm getting sick so i apologize for sounding as crabby as someone who had to have sucky veggie tacos for dinner

I am on Nardil and vegetarian also. While generally I don't have any problems eating, I have gotten the dreaded reaction twice from monterey jack cheese, which is popular in Mexican food (Tex Mex, as opposed to authentic Mexican-run restaurants). I keep nifedipine with me just in case. So I avoid monterey jack and cheddar. However, I have no problem with the Mexican queso blanco and the Indian paneer is also fine. Mozzarella is also fine for me.

Thanks so much for the info!! We usually go to authentic mexican restaurants, so hopefully there will be no problem. But just in case there is, I'll get my pcp to Rx me some nifedipine to carry with me too.
