Yes.
I am taking it (less than 7.5mg) and it helps sleep and anxiety. It does cause sedation, but this lessens with time and coffee seems to help.
My main problem was sleep so it has been very helpful.

I think of remeron as more of a mood stabilizer than an antidepressant. Although it probably won't help hardcore mania.

>I had GREAT success with Remeron for my depression and anxiety Jono. Until it pooped out on me, of course, like all the meds do. But I will warn you, it can cause a LOT of sedation. Which can be wonderful of course, when you are trying to sleep or are just trying to escape the world. But I recommend you trying it, if it's an option, b/c it can really help, and the sedation quickly becomes tolerable.

I took Remeron for about six months in the late '90s. It was a mixed bag. It gave me about nine hours of sleep most nights, but it wasn't a deep, refreshing sleep. It did relieve my depression and anxiety somewhat. I probably would have taken it longer, but I started having some stressful events in my life, and the Remeron wasn't helping me cope with them anymore. One common side effect with Remeron is increased appetite. I was hungry the whole time I was on it, and gained over twenty pounds.

Although I'd love to try Remeron for its anxiolytic benifits, I cant afford to gain any weight (I'm stocky as it is)
I guess I'll just soldier on with Edronax + Zolfot + 1mg Risperdal

Maybe try 2mgs Abilify every 3rd day instead of Risperdal every single day? Just a thought...might help with weight.

Hmmm, limited success, though I think it would have been better for my mental health to never have taken it. I took it for melancholic depression, but I also have underlying anxiety which tends to be seen more when it's not masked by severe depression. Mirtazepine is meant to be particularly good for melancholic depression, or at least better than SSRIs and SNRIs.
I took it for 6+ weeks and during this time titrated up to 60mg. I quit it as it (a) wasn't as effective as it needed to be and (b) the side effects of insatiable hunger and weight gain (5kg in 6wks on a 1.58m frame) were intolerable and causing my anxiety to skyrocket. Use extreme caution if you have any history of an eating disorder.
Oh and by the way, the weight gain was despite not eating any more than I usually would and exercising like a maniac (poor choice of words? Lol) once I was able to exercise, that is. I am also naturally slender and ordinarily don't gain weight easily. And by insatiable hunger, I'm talking about feeling like I was starving all the freaking time even after eating.
A number of posters have commented on the sedating features of Mirtazepine. It is sedating in lower doses, but quickly becomes activating in higher doses. I wouldn't pass judgement until you get to at least 45mg.
Anyway, if weight gain will be an issue for you, I wouldn't touch Mirtazipine with a barge pole.
To whoever asked: Avanza is the errr, trading name? for Mirtazapine in Australia, like Remeron is in the U.S.

Given the weight thing, I guess I'll stick with what I'm doing.
I am going to ask about switching from alprazolam to a longer acting benzo (such as clonazepam) to try and eaven out the inter dose ups and downs

It's a fantastic drug. But then I've heard Wellbutrin is too, even if it made me feel so agitated. I hope nothing like that happens for you when it finally arrives. It's taking *forever* to arrive!
