I'm med free! Can you believe it? :-)

Posted by Deneb on September 24, 2012, at 21:25:14

Pdoc gave me the go ahead to wean off the last of my Prozac. I hadn't really been taking it before anyways, just 20mg here and there when I remembered.

I haven't taken it for a few weeks now. I think I'm pretty much med free at this point!

I haven't taken Risperdal in ages. I had gotten pdoc's OK to go off that quite a long time ago and I've been fine.

The same with the Celexa. We reduced and I went off that again with no problems.

I've had zero problems going off all my meds. No real side effects or anything.

I do notice that I'm a bit more moved by emotionally charged movies etc. but in a good way. I cry when I watch a sad movie or hear a touching story etc. It's nothing abnormal. It's just human. I think this happened much less when I was on all those SSRI's. There may have been some emotional blunting.

Anyways, I'm doing well! I'm still not "successful" in terms of high academic and career acheivements, but whatever. LOL I don't mind. I don't need to be the best.

I don't think I'd like the extra stress that goes along with such high acheivements anyways.

I do have plans to get a better job etc. in the future and I suppose I'm procrastinating a bit, but I'm still quite happy as I am now. I'm just going to enjoy it as nothing in life is ever guaranteed. My parents are getting a bit old now so I need to prepare myself for them passing on in the future.

So, no meds! Yay!

I used to be such a mess remember?

I'm not sure what happened. Maybe my borderline personality went away. Maybe my brain just matured. Who knows?

In my experience there tends to be a sweet spot for a few days or a couple weeks shortly after stopping meds. That doesn't mean it will stay that way. Hopefully so, but maybe not.

I just wanted to say this. If things start to get rocky again, two words....rhodiola rosea.

Nice job getting off the meds.

That's great! Not so much that you're off medications, but that you are feeling stable enough to be safely off medications. :)

yea...its so much better for people to see life greener with success without medication. If I was given a choice to have ECT...and get off medications..i would do it.

go deneb!!

Same here RJ, if I was told that having an ablation of some little spot in my brain would stop the anxiety and depression and let me stop the pills I have to take, I'd have it in a heartbeat, without hestiation.

I wish I could say that. I'm starting to have problems with the decrease in perphenazine. Early in the morning when I take my perphenazine, it takes me about 3 hours and it starts to kick in. Untill then my my thinking is not good.
