pdoc said my shakes were most likely from overmedication. he cut my adderall dosages, from 20mg TID to 20mgAM, 10mg noon and 4.
also wants me to cut gabapentin.
****************************
so i'm gonna really rely on zyprexa here for mood. i told him about how it didnt really seem to work but when i took samples seemed to help more. coincidence maybe.
but he wrote Rx with DAW.
i went to get Rx and the pharmacist called me over to tell me that my bill for zyprexa would be just over $500.00. WTF? i said didnt insurance cover ANY? She said yes, $200.00.anyway, she said that there may be some Discount cards online that could cut it WAY down. but the most i found is cutting it down to $65.
considering the other meds i'm on. i still at cant afford this. i know i'm tight but we dont have the money. i could have afforded the $31.00 co-pay i was expecting.anyone have anyother ideas? feel free to babble mail me if this site isn't allowed to talk about this stuff.
but what really sucks is you all know how hesitant i am to be on zyprexa, and with the ONE f-ing time i actually WANT to stay on it for a while i now get zapped with costs!
anyway.
thanks in advance

Something has to be wrong as post Zyprexa has taken both the namebrand and various generics. I know he doesn't pay this. I'd try to find him I think he is home will see if can find him for you. Phillipa

Why not go the generic?
The FDA has aproved them as bio equivalent, there realy cant be much of a difference

Did your pdoc specify brand? Zyprexa has a generic formulation and it's pretty cheap. Call the doctor and ask. Even if that's the price for generic, sometimes the doctor can reason with the insurance company and change what category or formulary or whatever it is they use to decide what copay to charge you.

i was taking the generic and still had major emotional lability/severe aggitation.
zyprexa has ALWAYS been my go to drug and for it Not to work, i jumped to the conclusion that it was the generic. then started brand name (pdoc gave me samples) for 5 days. just fine.now one thing i didnt think of is the brand of generic.
JIA- yes the active ingredient is the same but the fillers and such are different. and i am sensitive to generics. i have had Several generics NOT work for me.
but i gathered my possible coupons and went to pharmacy last night. even with the best one it was STILL more than what running through insurance would be. which means the price they gave me...$492.00 i believe, is the cheapest i can get it.
so i guess its the generic and hope for the best.
:(
it just sucks that the one time i actually Wnat to stay on it, i cant get name brand.
i'll txt pdoc today and see what he thinks.b2c

if he had them he would give them to me. he used to give me about a months supply or more. he literally only had one sample bottle (7day). he said that his sample closet is bare bones these days.

$65 is not that bad. You might be able to get a lower price on mail order. I pay something like $175 for 3 months of brand untill I get in the gap then its half of the full price, which comes out to $800. This is why I take the generic. I get 90 pills for $45, no insurance, at costco.
Belive it or not generic zyprexa is much cheeper than perphenazine. Which is about $400 in the gap. And that is the lowest price I can find.
What differences do you notice between the brand and generic?

Yes I got tons of free samples of zyprexa from my pdoc. I still have a bunch, but using 10mg generic 5 days a week and a 15mg brand twice a week. Not sure why I need that 15mg twice a week, but I stoped for 2 weeks and was not as well.

The drug in the generic is exactly the same, the only possible difference could be a minor difference in adsorbsion - so, you might need a bit more or a bit less of the generic to give the same effect.
Please dont read so much into the minor differences in excipients between brand and generic drugs, in 99% of cases, they make no difference

I've seen some pretty radical differences in brand and generic. Other times it makes no difference. Prozac, and wellbutrin. brand wellbutrin smells like roten eggs, but the generic smells sweet. Prozac worked ok for me but generic was intolerable. One generic of perphenazine gives me headakes, the other generic was more plesant to take.

:-( sorry.
I used to order Abilify from India for super cheap ($30ish monthly, less than my old copay). Is that an option so you can stock up for your future needs?
