I'm seeing a neurologist tomorrow. When I saw my psychiatrist a few days ago he said I was leaning to the left from the waist up. I think my massage therapist mentioned it a few years ago. I started digging and this could be what I have. Any thoughts?

Phil good new is it's reversible. Strange the pdoc noticed. Did he want to see the neurologist? If he is the one prescribing the meds I'd think he'd be concerned. Wasn't there a long time ago a poster that had something similar. His posting name reflected the condition. For the life of me can't remember his name. Phillipa

Not sure about the other poster but yes my psychiatrist said I want you to see a neurologist. Can't believe I'm getting in so fast but I told my GP's office that time was ticking on insurance.

I see him tomorrow at 11am. I don't know how I'll be off of some meds but I wouldn't mind not leaning when I walk. It would be one less very expensive pill I won't have to buy.
Hopefully it's not some chronic condition with meds and doctor visits because I won't be able to do it.
Welcome to America.

I completely forgot about the insurance problems. It's bipolar you have isn't it? Stable now? What other meds are you on now? Did your pdoc have any thoughts if you had to stop one? Phillipa

These symptoms generally disappear after discontinuation of the antipsychotic drug.

Stable enough for disability..bipolar...Lamictal, Clonazepam, Lithium, Seroquel, Vyvanse.
Doc just said to see a neurologist. We carried on with the appt. He wasn't going to make guesses as to what I had just from walking behind me but he knew exactly where to send me. Antipsychotics have not been nice to me.

I think I'm about to find out if I need an AP. I have felt really good since quitting cigs 53 days ago so I have to also give credit to the meds. But I don't want anymore AP's. Zyprexa put me in the hospital for 6 days with unending high fever and now this.
I'm dreading this appt.

I think I passed most of the tests in his office. He will schedule an MRI and I have to get more blood work done.
I brought up my guess about three times but I think he wants to see my brain first. Not much to see.
As far as DX for my blood work he put Ataxia.

Phil in a way it sounds encouraging news. But then it doesn't explain the leaning does it? Phillipa

Not really. I called my psychiatrist after the appt to let him know what was going on. I told him I thought that Seroquel could be causing the Pisa syndrome.
He had never seen or heard of Pisa Syndrome. When I told him I think he was genuinely excited to know about it and was anxious to research it.
Duh...

I remember it helping and wanting to up the dose from 150 to 300 so I think it has helped.
But I'm just now remembering that the neurologist asked if I had psychotic mania's and I said no, I just had boundless energy, talked fast, spent money, etc.
I think he may have asked me if I thought I needed an AP. Don't remember.
I think I'd rather drop Seroquel and see if this goes away and if not do the MRI. But I don't have that much time.

Good luck with this. I don't know what else to say.

Got a call from my doc this morning on blood work, glucose 123. He's faxing it to my gp who I have a physical with on the 6th. I'm getting off of antipsychotics because they can cause both of these things. Add type II diabetes.

Yeah, I think I can handle that stuff especially if I get off Seroquel. I'll do whatever I need to do because I don't want that stuff too.
MRI this morning was bizarre. I know why they give you earplugs, 25 minutes of the strangest, loudest noises I've ever heard. Three doctors will have the results in 24 hours.

No significant abnormalities with my brain. Yeah!!
Now goodbye Seroquel. Kiss my ***.

Phil fantastic. Bye Bye seroquel. I've also had the MRI's and the ear plugs can't block the rap a tap tapping, and drumming noises. Worse than a dentist's drill. Phillipa

Not much to say Scott except this. After 30 years on meds and all that entails..unemployment at times, etc. I have learned one thing, I'm one tough sob. I'm not boasting and I'm not saying that things were easy. What I am saying is this ain't my first rodeo and I've ridden a few bulls back in the day.
I'm tough but so are you and everyone else that deals with chronic mental illness.
Oh, vote Obama and 2014 will change everything.
Onward thru the fog.
This is the end of the thread.
