I have been taking 450mg of Lithium with Adderall. I wonder if the Adderall increases the concentration of Lithium in my blood. I'll find out this week what my blood level is.
I have been on 600mg of Lithium for 2 days and have felt angrier on the higher dose. I have argued with my husband, threatened divorce, etc. This is not me.
I am still having the sucky side effects of diarrhea, hair loss, dry skin, thirst, memory loss.
But I cannot take anger and rage.
Just searching for that one nice pill that won't make me manic, fat, sleepy.
Maybe the Adderall really is bad for me too, but I get a lot of good out of it. I think it just causes anger problems when it wears off. I may need to discuss a different stimulant with the doc.
I'm going back down to 450mg of Lithium until I see my doc.

zyprexa suppresses anger....i've been on it for a while and i've noticed it takes anger outbursts away. You feel like not worrying on zyprexa but the only thing is the weight gain it produces and also much slowing of thoughts, at higher doses. I take it today and there is no sedation, but im moving off it and going on high dose Lamictal.
risperdal maybe help to but in my view zyprexa is the best in calming rage or high anger behavior, at doses maybe 10-15mg. In psych hospitals they use haldol and lorazpeam sometimes zyprexa for people who get extremely out there. Seriously it just numbs it out....really! Ask if you would like samples at your docs office.

I am trying to stay on the least amount of meds possible. Plus, I am trying to stay on meds that won't cause weight gain.
I did love the tiny dose of Zyprexa I tried about 3 years ago. I think I only took 2.5mg - 5mg to get me through a REALLY bad crisis and it worked and made me feel good.
The Adderall helps me so much with depression, but by the time I take the 2nd dose I notice that I hyperfocus. BUT if I don't take the 2nd dose of Adderall the first dose wears off and I get irritable.
I was hoping upping the Lithium would help. Maybe if I stuck with a higher dose of Lithium and my 2 doses a day of Adderall I won't get so irritable by the end of the day.
I really don't like being on Lithium. I just know that if I start to feel irritable I need some kind of med to deal with that. And I'm not sure Lithium is the med for irritability.
I guess antipsychotics are the meds for irritability?
Can't take antidepressants.
I do have klonopin, but that doesn't kick in soon enough first thing in the morning when I wake up irritable.

What about a low dose of xanax as it kicks in quickly has a slight antidepressant effect? Phillipa

Phillipa - I have thought about xanax, as it does have an antidepressant feel to it that Klonopin just doesn't have.
When are you thinking that I need the xanax? first thing in the morning? or as a replacement to my 2 - 3mg a day of Klonopin? or in the evening to kind of wind down from the Adderall?
I have been taking 1mg of Klonopin with my Lithium when I wake up and 1mg of Klonopin with dinner with my Lithium. Maybe I need 2mg of Klonopin to wind down from the Adderall.
I have wondered for years if I need to either add xanax or replace my Klonopin with xanax.
But if I take 2 -3mg of Klonopin a day (lately just 2mg a day), how much xanax would I need to equal that?
Or do I just use xanax as an add on with the Klonopin?
My mom takes both xanax and klonopin.
This is the end of the thread.
