i have ran across an article talking about Gabapentin beiing used foor Restless Legs Syndrome, does this mean that Gabapentins pharmacology indirectly increases dopamine?
i have been trying to do my own research but my thoughts are very foggy lately, but does anyone have any info on this?
it is just that meds that have a very indirect way of increasing dopamine seem to be very good for me. and ever since cyproheptadine stopped working for me, i need something else.

nuerontin does improve mood....similar to its lyrica but its not direct antidepres. effect. It work some how with nuerotransmiters with reducing electric firing as an antiepileptic, but also reduces some aspects of anxiety and mood lift, I used to take 800mg x 4 daily. It isnt like benzos but it will bring relief to moderate anxiety, with depression I don't think it would make a diffrence in severe cases of depression. It has a mild lift feeling. If you have alot of anxiety and take it will give a passive relief rather than direct aka benzos.
hope that helps, there's alot of babblers that could give anaylizing explainations than mine.

My neighbor takes it with xanax for sleep a low dose. Only two meds she takes. Says it helps with sleep. I've heard can cause weight gain and some swelling. It's about the same or is neurotin. Phillipa

Gabapentin has no affinity for dopamine receptors. I doubt very much it would help any with restless legs syndorme.

Gabapentin (Neurontin), has been a strange drug, which I have taken for anxiety for over 10 years.
I can't comment on Restless Leg Syndrome, but I can comment on Neurontin and mood. I used to be able to get high off of it, and developed a real problem with that. Now, if I take too much, I find that I become cranky and depressed...sometimes very depressed. Also, the "sweet spot: dosage is always changing. But the effect lasts longer than benzos and is stronger for me.
I could probably write a book about me and this drug, but that would require brain power that I believe neurontin has robbed me of. Then again, being super-freaked out anxious has done nothing good for my once very good brain.
