Hey guys, the last time I posted this question the Gavis version had just came out and most people had just started to transition over. I feel now that its been a couple of months its more appropriate to ask people which they prefer. So all the nardil peeps who have experience with both versions can you tell me which one is better? In particular Id like to know which one is more effective for social phobia. Im going back on nardil relatively soon and would like to hear your experiences, so I can make a decision on which one to go with.Pfizer works good enough for me, but if the Gavis is better then I think Il go with that. Theres always room for improvment.Thanks.

From what I recall, before getting a host of unbearable side effects, the Gavis was better than the Pfizer version as far as efficacy is concerned.

I have noticed no difference between the two formulas. They feel exactly the same to me.

If you are looking for a pharmacy that can get Gavis Nardil, Target pharmacies can order it from their warehouse for next day delivery. The price is good at around $80.

I have been on the Gavis Nardil for a month and have had slightly better results.I started taking biosperine with my Nardil and it has helped alot.
I like the fact that Gavis is made in the US, thus it is subject to regulations and inspections by the FDA. Pfizer is made in Sweden and the FDA has no control over the conditions or quality control over there. Besides Gavis is much cheaper, about $83 to $90 for 120 tabs. I get mine at Costco, they stock it in their warehouse and can have it for you overnight. Now that I'm only using Gavis, the pharmacy is stocking it.

Pfizer's Nardil is made in Sweden now? I knew that when Pfizer changed the medication's formulation that they moved the manufacturing site from Lititz, Pa., to Angers, France, but I didn't know that it's since been moved to Sweden. Do you have more information on this?

Youmay be right, it might be France, either way the FDA has no control over the manufacturing of the product.

While this is technically true, I don't think it means what you think it to mean. I'm 100% sure that the US has legislation in place that assures that imported medical drugs meet the same standards as domestically produced drugs.
I'm not trying to convince you to buy Nardil, I'm just saying this for other patients who might come across this thread and wonder whether they are getting a lower-quality product because it's imported.

redcard1981,
Certainly, questions have been raised as to how closely the FDA monitors the manufacturing of Nardil with the medication being made in France. I'm not sure that such questions have been answered, but yes, there is some thinking that there may be less oversight of the manufacturing of the medications when they're not made in the U.S. (and I'm talking about medications that are marketed in the U.S. but just manufactured elsewhere).
I did want to say that I'm glad that you're having better results with the Gavis phenelzine than you had with Pfizer's Nardil. I think that every little increase in efficacy helps. If I were still taking Nardil, I would probably at least give the Gavis version a try. My trials with Nardil ended after I received what was probably a bad batch of Pfizer's Nardil, and I know that I wasn't the only person to receive a bad batch of Pfizer's Nardil. If nothing else, I might expect the Gavis phenelzine to be more consistent from batch to batch than Pfizer's Nardil, although I can't say that I've heard of any problems with bad batches of Nardil in recent years. Still, the bad-batch problem has been known to happen in the past with Pfizer's reformulated Nardil, and as far as I know, the problem hasn't happened with the Gavis phenelzine.
I hope that you continue to benefit from the Gavis phenelzine.
