Memory impairment on nortriptyline does it go away

Posted by rculater on July 4, 2012, at 9:22:41

I wondered if the short term memory loss im getting on this drug is a start-up side effect or if anyone knows if it goes with time ?

My short term memory is shocking i can hardly remember what task im doing let alone complete it without loosing objects I once held in my hand. (keys, wallet, passes, pens, tools)

I am on 100mg of nortriptyline. I don't recall memory impairment specific to nortriptyline beyond the impairments caused by depression itself. If you are still on a sub-therapeutic dose, perhaps untreated depression is the cause?

While greatly improved due to treatment with nortriptyline, my memory and other cognitive functions are still not as they should be. However, my gut feeling is that this is due to residual depression. Of the side effects I did experience, most disappeared or improved as my body got used to each dose increase.

There are others on nortriptyline who will no doubt weigh in.
