I'm getting tired of hearing promising things about ketamine, yet there is still no sign of it being available to people any time soon. Each one of these articles/studies that gets released talks about it like it's the first time the medical community has come up with the idea. Seems like no progress is ever made in coming up with a way for sick people to try it.

I was too,i tried its cousin, mxe, which was actualy more brain protective and potent,it ran its course being legal and orderable.
We got addicted casue at ldose it was useless, however high dose it was a nuero protective high then for some,me,was at the least a blast and again for some spirtual.
Mxe was to be more potent,so in low doses i dont see where its gonna be more then a augment, unless for a nice high,it just wasnt stable enoough,so dont feel bad your not missing out on a wonder drug, unless im wrong but me and 3 other depressed were the ones who tested it with same thoughts.

im sick of hearing all these people talk about that my doctor would never prescibe. I'm sick of being denied almost everything that would help me. But yea...the big K...that's like using extasy for social disorders which they did use it in the 1970's during therpy sessions to make people feel more open minded and closer to others. It's kinda ... like a expirmental thing the whole psyhiatry club is doing, it won't ever be widely used unless this society turns into brave new world...currently presciption drugs are widerly used but modern doctors are less tended to prescibe addiction potential meds, like they did in the past before the drug laws. It just depends where you go...if you look hard enough and long you will find someone to give you what need.
Later...

I agree that it's annoying that Ketamine keeps being brought up as this breakthrough when the pilot study has been around for, like, ten years, now. That said, I believe they're recruiting patients for a ketamine study now in certain US cities.
For what it's worth, Ketamine is useful as a research tool, but everything I've read indicates that it's too damaging a drug to be taken, long term (or even medium term). Long-term use is also associated with more depression, not less. Ketamine is not the answer to our woes, sadly.
In general, I have the impression that antidepressant drugs that act on NMDA and glutamate are useful in the short term, but that the body generally re-regulates in a negative manner, within weeks--which is to say that, unlike proven antidepressants, they work in the very short term, but ALSO unlike monoamine-based antidepressants, they do NOT work in the medium to long term. :(
This is the end of the thread.
