I've been suffering from severe derealization for 2 years and it's been debilitating. Valium is effective, but I'm afraid of it's addiction potential. I've been hoping it would clear, but it hasn't, and i need a good doctor asap. I live in RI, and am willing to travel to NYC, Boston, anywhere really to treat this. Can anyone suggest a doctor who's familiar with this syndrome?

There is a medication called Tranxene...it is a benzo, but it last much longer than Valium, and it may be effective for this. I could not find any psychiatrists because nothing came up in the google search. I will continue to find someone to assist you. Hang in there!

Ok I just pulled up a doctor...this is a psychologist...i've been looking for psychiatrists everywhere and none are to be found on the net....I will continue to look...

hey phillipa...thanks for asking im doing ok...still i feel just frozen, i have been pretty mournful about my failures but you know its not going to do any good to dwell and think about over and over when I can come up with a solution. Yea...how are you??
