Could someone write something good about meds please? Seems like the Scientologists have invaded babble. Might as well drop them all if they are this harmful or does anyone start to feel well on them. Phillipa

it seems the media is putting out alot of negative things about meds.It seems that alot of people dont do well on them long term.I am so confused by it all,as well.Dont know what to do.I do know that I went to the er in a fit of panic, blood pressure sky high, they injected me with ativan, and immediately felt at peace, normal, could sleep, eat.Ativan,at that moment, was a lifesaver for me.

Parnate has kept me from getting virtually catatonic for nearly three years now. It causes insomnia (the only lasting side effect), but xanax and trazadone counteract that. Before parnate, and before I got really, really depressed, I took lexapro which completely took away this irritability I had lived with for years, made me lose weight and enhance my sex life. So meds have worked for me. Not all and not all without side effects. But I have no sense of brain damage at all. I am a professor and my brain works just fine.

I have been on (properly diagnosed) meds since January of 2008. While there is still a fair amount of tweaking going on because I am young (26) and that's relatively new for bipolar, I am very happy I am on meds.
Prior to meds, I was rapid cycling, mixed states, cutting, drinking every night, and hyper-sexual. Yes, there have been times since where all of those symptoms and more have popped up, but they are being MANAGED and not spiraling my life out of control.
With the help of my doctor and my family, I finished college on time summa c*m laude with a double-major, a certificate, and an honors thesis. I found a job within four months of graduation and am now attending one of the top ten law schools in the country in addition to working part-time [although I'm about to quit to focus on school]. Without meds, I am certain I would be dead or have been involuntarily institutionalized.
Caveat: there is more to my success than my morning and evening cocktail of pills, but I feel the hurt if ever I miss them.

How alarming!!!!!! Where are these invaders? I haven't seen anyone claiming to be a Scientologist?
As for something good about meds, I find Pepto Bismol to be a charmingly audacious shade of pink!

Aspirin is great and very effective.
I love my gummy bear vitamins when I can't choke down food.
My meds entirely regulate my behavior from day to night - thank goodness.

Best invention ever for those feeling "urpy" or generally having a hard time drumming up an appetite. In a pinch, have gone for Flintstone sour gummy bear vitamins, though they totally taste like candy!

I am very fond of the drugs I can't get and shouldn't take.

Like amoxicillin (the pink bubble gum stuff I took for ear infections as a kid).

We used to get a vitamin elixir, really think, kept in the fridge, tasted like delicious orange sludge. We only got that if were REALLY sick. Otherwise it was (shudders) Flinstones. Could only handle the purple ones.
Hello, nice to meet you.

I love to go home so I can buy Tylenol1 without a scrip. And BBQ potato crisps.

Is that what that was? We lived on it in winter time. Liquid gold.
