Drug companies are not allowed to give these perks anymore. No more pens, cups, etc in the docs offices. Phillipa

I didn't read all of this but I knew about the college cheerleaders. Sickening.
The government is there to protect us. Well, it's supposed to be. They gave these guys full permission to bamboozle the public.
A tiger will kill you if let out of the cage. The government did just that but now it's all big pharma. BP were tigers before they were let out but I think our government, knowing that, should get most of the blame.
Write your Congressman and make it clear how you'll vote depending on which side he's on.

I know in Massachusetts, they're not allowed to pay for these dinners at fancy restaurants anymore - with a speaker paid by the drug company.

Yes, and I'm not "allowed" to smoke dope, but I do.....See what I'm saying?
Laws and regulations often don't mean squat.

I just know what I see and I don't see squat in docs offices anymore. Now plastic surgeon's do give out free pens that put their practice name on hoping others see their name. Phillipa

Well, what's stopping them is that it is now illegal and these are not events (like smoking dope) that occur privately in someone's home. Mass also requires docs to report any gifts or money they have received from drug companies. I'm sure people lie, but it's a deterrent.
