Not worried about withdrawal of 1.5mg Clonazepam because I have no plans of getting off of it. It's a great med for me.

Generic. Ten years? Don't recall. I used to be on 3mg but cut back to 1.5 with no problem. Don't remember starting dose and don't have any side effects. Treating anxiety.
I don't even think about this med, it's probably part of my DNA by now.
I know it's hard to get off of but if you're patient you can get off of anything. Although cigarettes would be a nightmare.

One of the VERY surprising things I learned about benzo withdrawal is that withdrawal symptoms don't just occur from discontinuation; they occur BETWEEN DOSES. That was a big lightbulb moment for me, realizing that what I thought was just "my anxiety" resurfacing, was really withdrawal symptoms.
Benzo dependence is an awful conundrum.

thanks, phil.I use brand .5mg at night for anxiety, had panic too. This solves all my issues, even depression(anxiety based). However,Im coming up on year 5 and I pressure myself to taper off.I feel horrendous when I try to taper.I feel stuck, but cant deny that it is a miracle drug for me.I would like to go to generic, what do you recommend?

Well, I was taking yellow ones and recently they switched to a lovely pink. I don't remember ever being on brand but I may have been briefly.
My med combo's have changed many times over the years but K is always in the mix.
My aunt was on Valium for ten years. Don't know her dosing regimen but she didn't have withdrawal. When she was in her 70's we were talking and she said, wouldn't mind having that again. I cracked up.
I tell my pdoc's that if I ever ask for Valium say no. I used to love that stuff pre-diagnosis. My perfect combo way back was 10mg's, a joint, and two beers. Anxiety be gone. I could talk to anybody, go to big parties and eat all of the cavier, and be good to go for hours. :)

I miss those days, going to parties, talking all night to everyone, dancing, and I loved alcohol. No more drinking though.I never tried a benzo until age 44!If I was in my 70s,I would like to have a valium once in a blue moon,so soothing.I hate anxiety.

I gave up drinking when I started meds 30 years ago. Maybe twice a year I'll have a beer. LOL
Alcohol is a depression machine.

Hi crazyjoe. Klonopin is 4 times stronger than Ativan ...0.25mg Klonopin = 1.0mg Ativan ... so 2mg klonopin switched to 2mg Ativan is not an even swap. You would need 8mg Ativan to equal 2mg klonopin.
And ativan's much shorter half life creates an even bigger problem.
Here is a good chart...

Hey I haven't receive a one of the notifications from this thread going on 36 years of benzo use for me. Haven't increased doses actually have cut down. As Phil said It's also part of my DNA and my brain needs it. Even my new pdoc addictions sprecialist has no problem with me taking what I take. Phillipa

I always thought 1mg ativan to 10mg valium , 2mg ativan to 1 mg xanax, when i was detoxed 12mg off ativan a day, i wasnt given ativan i was given 2x 40mg doses of valium a day. Which did nothing,an i ended up on the mental ward.

You've been with him 5 years? Do you think you are on the right track? Would he switch you back to klonopin if you asked?I wish dr.'s would spend much more time studying and see fewer patients. Would be better for everyone.
No way that will happen, though.
