To Dr. Bob, Scott, et al

I'm new to this message board and I'm not sure how much right I have to say anything, especially in a new thread, but I don't know where else to put this. "Psycho-babble medication" has been the best thing to happen to me in the past month, and yet unless something changes I think I have to leave for my mental health.

I just don't understand why, on a MEDICATION message board, I have to receive messages that are eerily similar to the anti-med judgments of my friends, family, and acquaintances. I come here for non-judgmental information, advice, and support. Yet it seems almost half the threads turn into yet another pro-med/anti-med debate. I see over and over again people being banned for a week for saying something against Lou, yet no one was banned when I specifically asked to not get any more anti-med messages due to feeling suicidal and expressly triggered (Lou's messages were mostly suicide information regarding people on meds), and was immediately written to again. No one was banned when I was called anti-semitic (I'm half Jewish, btw) for complaining about my very personal thread being turned into a platform on which to deliver anti-med rants.

Obviously I haven't been here long, I haven't been much help and no one will miss me. Still, it's a very sad missed opportunity for me, because I was very excited about the support and information I received here and got nowhere else.

Thanks to everyone for your help and support, especially Phillipa, Bleuberry, B2chica, g_g_g unit. and most especially Scott. I almost put this on the "appreciate Scott" thread but wasn't sure if that was appropriate. However, Scott, I can't tell you how much you've helped me, in terms of information, ideas for meds, support in general, ways to explain to my p-doc that interest in meds simply shows that I still have hope, and above all, the inspiration that comes from you doing so well so that I can keep that hope alive. I very much hope you continue to do great and that you are always given the support you give others.

Good luck, all

I hope you will stay. This board, and the people you mentioned, are an incomparable source of information and hope.i hope Dr. Bob will notice how many posters are distressed by Lou's posts, and will help find a way for Lou to express his views more appropriately - without hurting others.

Just a warning. Members have been banned for speaking their mind about Lou on this forum... be careful..

I also don't want you to leave. Thank-you for the kind compliment means a lot. But first why do you feel you have not helped others? By telling your experiences you are helping others me included. All imput is much appreciated. I know I don't have the answers but you might you never know. I could care less what color, religion, country you are from. All people are equal. After all the years here I'm very distressed also with the anti-meds posts. Time after time this comes up and nothing seems to be done. I try and ignore and go to next post from a poster other than mentioned name. Please try and hang in and stay. Try this stadegy for a while. Do you have your babblemail on also? As you can babblemail other posters and them to you and bypass the board so to speak with specific med questions. You know how to tell if on right? If name is in a color babble mail is on and click their name and a screen appears that you write a private message on to the poster. And for them to reply to yours you will have to go to registration again and click yes babblemail on. Might this help? Phillipa

Me, too.

Your kindness and concern for others was immediately obvious. I like the way you express yourself and deliberate your decisions. I am humbled that you should say such nice things about me.

I completely understand having a need to leave this place to protect your health. I had to do exactly that in the past myself. I was once gone for 1 1/2 years.

Do what you need to do for yourself. You have my respect, for whatever that's worth.

Don't go.
Just ignore it.
Yes, one would think they wouldn't have to on a med board, but ya just can't get through to people sometimes.
Whatever you do, take good care.

Don't go! Just ignore posters that you don't agree with. The board is heavily moderated so the experience is unlike any other public forum I have ever been on. It allows all of us to express ourselves in a generally safe place. However everyone does get to express themselves in a civil way even if the majority of the board doesn't like it.

I've been around for 3 years and there has always been an anti-med troll. Many people have either been banned from responding in anger or left in protest. It's not worth losing something as cool as babble over 1 or 2 posters.

It also helps me to take what I call "babble breaks". I don't read the board for several weeks at I time while I am tapering or going through a med transition. I don't like to have opinions that conflict with my doctor while I'm going through withdrawal or having an episode. I usually only babble to support others. I rarely post about my own situation, but I do check everyday and read most threads when I'm feeling well.

Don't underestimate your ability to help all of us. Please stick around.

Learn to skip the anti-med people or recite poetry to them if you'd like

don't leave because of them
They give us a good us & them dynamic to work with
