Hey J,
Zyprexa is a great drug, very effective... I think thats a good idea to switch from seroquel if its not working well for you... people often respond better to one antipsychotic than another one..bps

could you just up the abilify to 30, maybe add a benzo if you need additional calming?

My theory:
I believe that Abilify can reduce the effectiveness of coadministered neuroleptic antipsychotics that have significantly lower binding affinities for the D2 receptor. Seroquel has the lowest affinity. Zyprexa is also comparatively low. Abilify might block both of these drugs from exerting robust antipsychotic effects. Either bring the Abilify up to 30 mg or discontinue it in order to give other drugs the best chances of working.
Question:When you were responding well to Seroquel, how much Abilify were you taking?

My theory has substance, I believe. I would discontinue the Abilify now and retry Seroquel. Remember to taper the Abilify.
I have witnessed the phenomenon of Abilify rendering Seroquel ineffective in a friend of mine. My doctor has seen it several times, too, and thinks my theory has merit.
Fr*g my theories for now. Instead, just use empirical observation of your treatment history:
1. Seroquel monotherapy worked.
2. Seroquel + Abilify did not.I would not waste time with other unproven treatments until you first attempt to reproduce the conditions that you responded to the first time. You could start Seroquel now and discontinue the Abilify once there is enough Seroquel on board to prevent any rebound psychosis.
Good luck.

Oh. I forgot to mention that there are no guarantees. Of course, I hope that my suggestions to you result in your achieving remission, but they may not. I really don't care whose suggestions you follow, as long as you get better.

I doubt Seroquel is controlling your psychosis - I'd give credits to the Abilify.

Why do you want to change to Zyprexa?Eric
