Only if you keep upping the dosage. Toxic in what way, btw?

Have you been checked for other causes of tiredness, anaemia, thyroid etc..... it seems pretty unlikely that a low dose benzo would start making you tired after all this time.... might be worth getting a few bloods run by your doctor.

I can see the possibility of toxicity developing with the longer acting ones like Valium & Clonazepam. My experience (& also a friend's) with Valium is that with the high tolerance I have the effect _seems_ to wear off in about 6 hours - but the half-life is up to 72 hours. So if I had access to unlimited amounts of Valium I can imagine that taking it every time I felt like it had worn off could lead to toxic levels.
In fact I have had some experience with this. While withdrawing from other meds in a clinic I was put on an initial dose of 80 mg Valium/day. With my high tolerance I thought that would be just great, and felt fine for the first few days. But by the end of the week I was seeing double and having trouble staying awake. All went well in the long run as I was put on a (relatively) fast 30-day taper.
At the same clinic, a patient had to be taken to hospital in a wheel-chair for what rumour said was toxic Valium build-up.

Interesting once knew a girl that drank a bottle of whiskey with 6mg of xanax a day and was put in detox. And she was given massive amounts of valium and she was always crying and sleeping. And they kept raising the doses. The talk was what happens when she is released? One time a doc wanted me off xanax and alchohol and given high doses of benzos and gradually weaned down over a few day. Funny thing is when down to 5mg felt best had in years. Also on 10mg of paxil and synthroid at time. As for bloodwork it's all fine including liver enxymes and just got thyroid results back and l.6 for TSH and free T4 and Free T3 also in the endos range of what he wanted. Phillipa
