Any SSRI that does not increase tinnitus?

Posted by Franz on January 15, 2012, at 19:53:15

Hello, escitalopram and fluoxetine caused me ear problems lik epain, increased tinnitus. Stimulants also increase tinnitus for me.

Is there any SSRI that does not have this effect?

Thanks.

I have the same problems. Most meds do that to me. The few that I have found that actually make it quieter instead of louder include only three categories: Savella, Rhodiola, benzos, and some of the adaptogens (siberian ginseng, ashwaghanda, schizandra, rhodiola), nortriptyline.

All of the above will increase my tinnitus for a few days but then it gets quieter. Any other substances it gets louder and stays louder.

It's a tough problem. Some people say the psych meds are poison for the brain. I don't know if that is true or not. All of the ssris made my tinnitus worse, wellbutrin was really bad, antipsychotics do it too, remeron, so many.

Bottom line, I think you just have to experiment with different things to see what helps you feel better but keeps the tinnitus down at the same time. Easier said than done, I know.

I donīt know. I read loss of smell can be due to zinc deficiency but I am not sure.
