I've largely blamed my disease for why med tents seem to fail. Could the problem be the med tegretol that Im using as a mood stabilizer?thoughts?

Tegretol may not be the best mood stabilizer for you.

What else are you on besides tegretol, and are you mainly depressed or hypo/manic?

Probably you should try a different mood stabilizer. It sounds as if it is not working. Have you been on Lithium.

THE PROBLEM IS THE TEGRETOL DOES NOTHING TO TREAT THE SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION.
Your mania may well be treated, but your depression is not. Switch to a mood stabilizer that helps with depression: Lamictal, Lithium or Zonegran.
You will also probably want to add an antidepressant in your mix.

I tried lithium for several weeks several years ago. It didn't help at all with sleep so I went off it. The only benefit I get from tegretol is it helps somewhat with sleep. Maybe if I took lithium and something like seroquel for sleep? How hard would it be to switch from tegretol to lithium? What would lithium do that tegretol isn't doing? My pdoc says my agitation isn't from the tegretol but untreated depression.
