I am tired of my doctors advice on medication. I am currently at 40mg of prozac and i feel depressed. I want to take Effexor, but my doctor thinks i am ok with prozac. So, i am thinking to try Effexor by myself, i know it sounds stupid but i am tired of my depression. What do you think?
Should i tapper off prozac and take the Effexor 75mg? I am thinking of stopping Prozac, and start take Effexor 75mg. I am worried a little about prozac's long half life and if it could cause serotonin syndrome if i also take effexor...
I appreciate your help.

Couldn't you just add in wellbutrin or endronax (I may have misspelled the last one...) ?
I don't know about switching to effexor from prozac. I'd be scared of serotonin syndrome, too. Plus, the ADs are all a bit different, so you might lose something that's keeping you afloat. I know building a cocktail doesn't sound appealing, but I seriously think that adding in another drug might be easier.

Ok, i am on day four without the prozac and i took today 37.5mg of effexor. I don't think i'll have any problems in such a low dose.
