important for vegetarians as this goes beyond being an alternative health issue; some, like myself are deficient even according to typical tests with high ref. ranges for the detection of congenital metabolic disease.

[cut off]
but just to remind of the importance of this, there are many studies that report reduced mental health, general functioning and quality of life according to various measures, in various situations, which include a range of psych/neuro diagnosed populations, cfs/me, age groups...
it is outside of typical "alternative" med. Issues as it grows as an important nutrition/deficiency issue and not just a "nutriceutical" (not to diminish the importance of that focus either tho); in Canada it was originally available as a prescription to treat rare congenital metabolic disorder(s)
one special focus is how carnitine status suffers with valproate use, as does various other health/functioning related measures. let me know if anyone wants articles, I find them on google scholar & PubMed; just am low functioning/poor organisationally so I'll wait until someone might want me to compile a list (as someone with these difficulties, I understand others have them too, but I just take longer/use more effort to put things together outside of my chambered head/translate into the tangible.
This is the end of the thread.
