> Thank you for your thoughts everyone. Funnily enough I am on 50mg of buspar and it has helped tremendously!

Thank God for small miracles. I think Viibryd hits different populations of 5-HT1a receptors than does Buspar.

> I actually have come down from 90mg believe it or not but it was causing weight gain.

I guess that's due to D2 antagonism and increased prolactin secretion.

> Scott, I think I will try Viibryd as you say there is nothing to lose. Did Viibryd not help you at all hence coming off it?

I felt improved during the first week or so. Thereafter, it was doing more harm than good. Coming off of it was not much fun. I became much more depressed and had to fight the thoughts and feelings of suicidality.

> I hope you are still improving Scott.

Today is day 14 of Pristiq treatment. I am currently taking 100 mg. I feel no worse now than I did while taking Nardil. This is a good thing, of course, but I'm not holding my breath that I am going to see a robust improvement from this drug.

A friend of mine had Effexor poop-out on her. She is now responding very well to Pristiq 100 mg.

Is memantine (Namenda) still being looked at for treating OCD?

Unfortunately it has been a wonderful medication for me so I am worried to try something different. Has anyone had any experience with Viibryd for OCD and has not had any sweating or sexual dysfunction? Another plus of zoloft is that it caused me to lose weight so I am also terrified as well as I don't want to put on weight. Many thanks for your experiences,

What about keeping the Zoloft on board and adding bupropion (Wellbutrin)?

Bob thanks for the idea it does sound like a good one. The only problem is when I took Wellbutrin years ago I sweated like no other so adding it to my zoloft would be catastrophic in that sense I think! Sweating is the side effect I have been dealing with for years it is so frustrating. I even tried taking terazosin for it as there were some studies done for ssri sweating, to add terazosin. didn't help that much I must say.

I know exactly what you mean. I have suffered from excess sweating and hot flashes for years and years. Sometimes it has been so bad I could hardly stand it. Wellbutrin, Effexor, and Celexa have been among the worst offenders, but to tell you the truth, my health eventually got to the point where just about anything I would do it.

I just switched from Clomipramine to Viibryd and have been experiencing positive effects on my OCD. I too switched because of sexual disfunction and can happily say my sex drive is back and I am no longer experiencing anorgasmia.

The Viibryd seems strong to me at just 40 mg. I haven't experienced any side effects.

If Ocd is considered an anxiety disorder and no side effects that is terrific. None with luvox either. I wonder if somehow similar? You would know you are good with meds and chemistry. Phillipa

Luvox and Viibryd are not similar. Luvox is a monocyclic antidepressant and stimulates sigma receptors. Viibryd has no similar mode of action.

It is helping with the OCD, but not as well as the Clomipramine, so I've added back 100 mg of it.

Really? What dose were you on? Were you taking any other psych meds with it at the time?

I'm looking into Viibryd too. The goal is to reduce the sexual dysfunction side-effects I've been experiencing over the years when taking SNRIs (Lexapro, Cymbalta, Pristiq, etc)

Unfortunately the FDA is now questioning the claims that Viibryd reduces sexual dysfunction side effects. My pdoc has suggested a "wait and see" approach for the next few months, as more and more users start reporting long-term effects.

My pdoc also suggested that I keep an eye on the websites below. From what I've seen, Daniel Carlat is a consumer advocate of sorts who provides useful info on pharmaceuticals. His take on Viibryd, and the issue of sexual dysfunction side effects in general, is worth a read.

The article about Viibryd and a few more of the newer meds is on the report website, entitled "Four 'New' Antidepressants".

Report
http://thecarlatreport.com/

Blog
http://carlatpsychiatry.blogspot.com/

One thing he points out is that the 5-HT reuptake
mechanism is very similar to what BusPar does.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting with my pdoc for more long-term info on Viibryd.

Hope this info helps,
Reggie BoStar
