Amazing but not really seems the boards are deserted. I guess this could be it. But either most are well or too sick to post or have gone elsewhere. Phillipa

Whenever you make these posts claiming no one is posting - do you not see the posts I'm seeing? I don't understand why you periodically claim that everyone's gone, or the boards have been abandoned - or that its' 'deserted' - etc.
Do those that are posting not count? Are they/we not important enough to merit being 'real'? I don't get it.

Soltice when is the last time someone posted on meds and people answered their questions, politics, faith, alternative, admin, neurotransmitters, social most lately. If you go into the archieves there were so many daily threads one couldn't even read them. I remember not long ago Scott posted on admin the traffic on different boards. Wasn't very good remembering. So that is why. all questions and posts are important. Hence I try to answer most so the person doesn't feel deserted or abandoned. Phillipa

> Soltice when is the last time someone posted on meds and people answered their questions,
Every day, pretty much. It's very uncommon for a post to not receive a response.
> politics, faith, alternative, admin, neurotransmitters, social most lately. As for some of these other boards, perhaps they have outlived their usefulness. Psychology and Social are busy enough. Meds is the busiest, for sure, but people post on Psychology and Social frequently. And most posts get answers.
> If you go into the archieves there were so many daily threads one couldn't even read them.Just because it's not as busy doesn't mean it's 'dead' or even 'nearly dead' - much less deserted.
> I remember not long ago Scott posted on admin the traffic on different boards. Wasn't very good remembering.
yes, and he makes very legitimate points about the difficulty the boards had when it was overly-moderated. However, it's been a long time since we had every little thing 'punished.' All that stuff was very disruptive to the purpose of the boards. Perhaps it won't ever be as exceedingly busy as it's been at certain points in the past, but again - less does not equal "worse off" or "deserted." The boards continue to bring in new members.> So that is why. all questions and posts are important. Hence I try to answer most so the person doesn't feel deserted or abandoned. Phillipa
You are faithful in making sure new posters are acknowledged, and being friendly to everyone. One thing you may want to keep in mind, though, is that not for various reasons, not everyone is able to be online 24/7. So.. posts don't always get instant responses. I know what it can be like to post something and anxiously wait for a response, so it's very sensitive of you to look for unanswered posts and respond to them, but not everyone is able to watch the boards that diligently.. so it's great that you can - but it's not fair to view the rest of us as having 'deserted' the boards if we aren't able to be on them 24/7. Does what I'm saying make sense?

"These" days are a lot of fun too! Different set of 'friends,' maybe.. (old and new), but no less enjoyable. It's okay to enjoy rich memories of 'the old days'... but we miss out on a lot of 'now' joy when we believe that we have to recreate that same past set of circumstances in order to experience joy *now* - don't you think?

You seem to become distressed when there are fewer posts to respond to. Do you think you might be addicted to posting?I don't think that I am addicted, but I do use Psycho-Babble to distract me. When there are no posts to read or respond to, I very often lose myself in sleep. I wish that I had the motivation and energy to involve myself in other things. I'm just glad that I don't spend the whole day hitting the refresh button.
I do like when the board is busy. I find it therapeutic.

Scott same here as enjoy learning new things and the distration is great for me. But when not busy on here I'm out of the house doing ebay shopping for posting late at night. Hows your meds doing any improvement? Don't think you have posted this lately. Ride bike my 6 miles also even if gets boring at times. And to Sol I do enjoy meeting new people both here and when out somewhere. I have a habit of starting conversations with total strangers. Amazing what I learn of them during this. I now have a friend on Facebook that did my last Mammogram. Phillipa

Interesting thread. I don't answer a lot of threads probably because I feel like I don't know enough and don't want to give out wrong information. But I really appreciate you Phillipa, especially. You are always so thoughtful to get back to everyone in some way. That's really cool. You too Scott!
I hope your getting something out of this and it sounds like you are. Distracting, therapeutic, etc.
Thanks again!
