Prozac to Celexa to Zoloft?

Posted by Ninafel on November 6, 2011, at 13:03:00

I complained to my psychiatrist that I have been experiencing some agitation and anxiety while on on Celexa (I've been on it for the past year and a half), which I switched to because, after 16 reasonably successful years, Prozac seemed to be pooping out.

Not sure if Celexa is the cause of the irritability/anxiety or coincidental, since some of the depression and recrimination symptoms have come back, too, but am willing to try Zoloft. (Celexa seemed to exacerbate jaw clenching as well, but I managed that with massage.) Now I read here that Zoloft can be anxiety inducing. Any advice?

It sounds like the celexa either wasn't working or was causing side effects that were not worth it. I had pretty bad jaw clenching on Lexapro, but no anxiety.

I think many ssris can hypothetically cause anxiety and one has to just try them to see. Zoloft has been my favorite one out of all of them (and I have tried all of them except Prozac). I found it to be very calming, but at the same time it didn't make me flat like Paxil.

If you are worried about anxiety Paxil is the one many pdocs suggest. But it is probably worth giving Zoloft a shot. For many it is a great drug.

Wow 16 years of prozac. I tried it when new and got horrible anxiety on it. Celexa opposite tired. Zoloft if I recall tired also. But was also on a benzo. Amazing about the prozac working for so long and no anxiety. Phillipa

I took those meds in that order as well.
You hear a lot about mixed / hypo responses but it doesnt always work that way. Id give it a shot.
