Cranial Electro Stimulation, Fisher Wallace

Hi,

I use the Fisher Wallace CES device, and find it very helpful. I was diagnosed with depression at age 16, and have taken different medications over the years, most of which helped only somewhat, and that had side effects that really interfered with my life.

My psychiatrist prescribed the Fisher Wallace Device, and it is helping me sleep, as well as relieving anxiety improving my outlook. I currently I am not taking any antidepressant medication.

I would not describe this as a panacea, but I will say that it is pretty impressive.

In the US, a physician needs to prescribe, and the device costs around $700, which may or may not be covered by insurance. In other parts of the world, no prescription is needed, and the devices available are less costly as I understand it.

Has anyone here tried this or other devices with any success? Do you know of less costly devices that are effective? I am asking because a member of my extended family is having trouble absorbing antidepressants due to having had gastric bypass surgery. I am hoping to gather information that might help her, so thank you in advance for whatever you can share.

I was not sure where to post this, but chose the medication forum because this is a biological form of treatment. It is FDA approved for PTSD, insomnia, anxiety and depression. The website with more information is fisherwallace.com.

hi there-

i have used the alpha stim/bio tuner device which is similar (and cheaper = $200) but did not find it helpful for my depression or anxiety. still, your family member may find it helpful.

are you in or near los angeles? i ask because i am currently in a depression study at ucla that uses a very similar device that is much stronger and has a more credible data backing it's use for depression. and, they are looking for people to enroll in the study. it's at a phase 3 level.

i've been posting about it on the alternative board here. no luck yet, but i have only been on it for a week or so.

feel free to ask me any questions if you have any.

john

John, I live in North Central Jersey, an hour or so from NYC. I know someone in LA who might be interested, however. I'd love to hear more about the study.

Thanks!
