120mg of Geodon works good for me during the day except for making me feel flat sometimes. The worst part about taking 120mg Geodon is the terrible insomnia. I can take Ambien and Klonopin and still can't sleep.
If I take 80mg I do ok during the day - not as optimal as 120mg, but I sleep great - no insomnia.
So what's the answer? My doc says that maybe the higher dose hits different transmitters.
What do I do? Take 80mg sleep great and take Klonopin during the day?
Can't go without sleep.

Sheila I think you answered your own question if 80mg during the day with klonopin works I'd take that. Different neurotransmitters different doses that sounds like what they say about remeron in different doses doing different thing. Phillipa

120 mg is where Geodon starts to exert its full antipsychotic benefit. I'm surprised you have problems sleeping with it-its an antagonist of histamine receptors. Have you ever tried to take it in a single dose rather then a split dose in the morning(all 120 mg in the morning?). Why would you want to take Klonopin during the day? If anything, that'll help you sleep when taken at night.

Sleep seems so important to mood, especially with bipolar.
Are you okay with a Klonopin during the day? You feel enough stability?

I do take my full dose all at once at night with dinner.
For some reason at 80mg I fall asleep great and sleep great. But at 120mg I lose that sleep effect. 120mg keeps me awake.
Sleep is SO VERY important. I'm not sure if 80mg will keep me stable in the long run.
I haven't tried taking 120mg all at once in the morning to see if it would work - don't know how it would make me feel (goofy, drowsy but not sleepy?)
Don't know.

Maybe on a weekend or a day when your husband is home, try the 120 all at once. Is it o.k. To take all at once?
I mean sleep is so important.
Then, so is being stable.

Sheila I wouldn't advise taking 120mg all at once. Just read the Official FDA website on geodon very long wade through It. Phillipa

Maybe try 80 at night and 40 in the morning?
