starting med for thyroid

Posted by lifelover on October 29, 2011, at 13:03:44

Hey guys soon i will be starting a medication for low thyroid. From what I understand from my gp it will be a low dose. Ive heard that these meds can actually give you more drive and energy and also make u less depressed. Is this true? Also Ive heard they can make you lose weight how exactly does this work? One more thing can these medications cause you anxiety? Thanks guys.

I had a strange response when my thyroid was found to be low due to Hasimotos. My TSH was high at 18. And where with most they would be gaining weight also could be depressed my anxiety was very high not on anything but .25mg xanax at the time. I was given the lowest dose .025mcg. Until it kicked in day 6 I needed extra tiny dose of xanax then one night at work all of a sudden I felt well out of the blue. Didn't need the extra xanax any more. But if you have the typical low thyroid yes I feel what you ask may well be true. A good site for thyroid is Mary Shoman both on google and facebook. Count on feeling better soon!!! Phillipa
