Probiotics could someday treat depression and anxi

Posted by ihatedrugs on October 28, 2011, at 0:07:30

I had come across this article a few days back and though interesting dismissed it as just another study. Funny thing though, I was talking to my mom today who incidentally had been taking probiotics to help with her digestive system. She did not know about the study and mentioned that she did not know if it was just coincidence but she had been feeling so much more relaxed and her mood had lifted in addition to sleeping much better. As she is telling me this, I began to think about this article and told her there have been some studies linking an improvement in mood and anxiety in lab mice with taking probiotics.
I don't know if there is any merit to this but I'm going to try it.

Thanks for posting that. Ive never heard of it,but I have been drinking Kefir, which is similar to yogurt, but has a bigger variety of the probiotics.I think its Lifeway, and I get plain, sometimes organic, tastes like buttermilk. Its at Krogers in the natural foods area-refrigerated section.Ive been feeling great lately, maybe its my kefir?!But when you think about it, your gut,at least mine, goes crazy when you get anxious, and does weird things when Im depressed.
