Hey guys,
Doing okay on Ambien alternating with Restoril. But noticed that my new drug plan covers Ambien CR in both brand (slightly higher copay) and apparently, there is a generic now.
One: Is 12.5mg the upper bounds? Maintenance is more of a problem than initiation for me. Wanted to know how Ambien CR has performed for anyone in that respect.
Also, brand v. generic: I can have either, are there any good generics out there? Sometimes folks have problems with extended release generics.
How does Lunesta compare? Any other non-antipsychotic, non-antihistamine, non-trazodone, non-rozerem hypnotics out there that don't make depression work and are Nardil-compatible?
Shooting for: minimal hangover and AM depression.
SLS mentioned Tenex recently; anyone tried that for sleep? Clonidine for sleep anyone?Sorry this is so rushed. I've actually been, truly, looking for work. Had a good day today for once. :D

Great for the good day. I did take lunesta but with benzos so defer to someone who has only taken one you have mentioned. Jumped on to wish you luck with your job search and feeling good. Phillipa

I've heard but never tried, that Lunesta is best. From one person.

Wow, you pretty much ruled out -all- possible sleep meds with that sentence.
Beta blockers can cause depression in some folks, just an FYI.
Ive taken hydroxyzine (short acting antihistamine) and prazosin (short acting alpha blocker) for sleep with some success. recently moved to kava-kava + melatonin. Not half bad actually. But my sleep issues are minor compared to someone on MAOI.

Clonodine is infamous for being depressogenic. I doubt depression occurs in everyone, but it is good to screen for when taking this drug.

You're probably familiar with my sleep issues. Yeah, 12.5 CR is the highest dose. It helps me, but I am using other meds now. Generic. Have not tried brand.
Lunesta worked for sleep maintenance for a long while. Don't rule it out. Gave me a hangover and notorious metallic taste in mouth. But hey, I slept. Don't think it worsened depression. Neither did/does ambien 12.5 CR except when pdoc said take two (!). No thanks to that again. But that's me.
Sonata was good for interrupted sleep. It feels different than the other z's. Which is both good and bad.
Right now I am finding neurontin plus temazepam gives me the longest uninterrupted sleep. Lyrica, which you mentioned in another post, did not make me sleepy. But for you, I don't know.Resterol. I forget. Is that Dalmane or what I take?
Any answers today?

Temazepam, what you take.> Any answers today?
Oh yes. My doctor is way more awesome than I even thought, I'll contact you privately to show you his website. The guy has a PhD in neuroscience (literally) in addition to his MD; and *really* knows his sh*t more than any psychiatrist I've ever had.I am so lucky. I've seen a lot of them. AndroGel is formulary for my new insurance (10/1 coming soon!) - we're going to try Ambien CR (brand) and see what happens. I've heard weird things about the generics.
I feel really, really good lately. But I haven't been skimping - I am actually planning my few remaining skimp days till the first around times I don't have to be out in public or with family or otherwise be productive. This is how I know this stuff works.
I don't get fatigued, I have energy and I stop obsessing. *I am able to STOP OVERANALYZING AND OBCESSING.* My Xanax conumption goes down to as little as 0.5mg/day from 1mg/twice a day, every day. And that's only because I'm dependent on it.
Testosterone is something I have likely been deficient in since, if not birth, puberty. Although my sex drive during my teen years and early adulthood was normal (and if it wasn't, I wouldn't even WANT to know what it'd be like to have more sex drive than I had at 16-17.)
No effects on that either... a little increased above zero, I might say.
Next month I'll have a good testosterone measure. I'm going to ask for free T and estrogen levels as well, to ensure T isn't being converted into E. (Bad for men.)
