Weight gain too?
I need something for anxiety, a non benzo. Is remeron a possibility. Can I take it with effexor xr?
Thanks :-)

Seriously a month on 15mg of remeron didn't make me at all tired but 12.5 of seroquel knocked me out. Phillipa

Gee, SG, I don't know. I do think, according to a friend, remeron is a bit of a mood brightener the next day. She likes it. Did cause some weight gain, but nothing out of hand.....
Good luck!

Remeron will help with anxiety, and can be taken with Effexor, however weight gain might be an issue, and yes, it will cause sedation.
Risperidone 1mg at night has helped my anxiety quite dramaticly, and hasnt caused any weight gain, and the sedation only lasted a couple of days.
Atarax and Buspar are both options for you as well.

I'm the opposite way around :P I take 12.5mg seroquel at night and it gives me a nice 7 hours sleep and i wake up feeling great. 15mg of remeron knocks me out for 20 hours and i wake up still feeling out of it.

Note that neither of them are specificaly sleep meds, they cause drowsiness as a side effect - you'd likely get better releif with fewer side effects if you took a sleeping pill such as temazepam or Ambien at bedtime for sleep.
