hi people. i've read that Orap at low dosage is a good antidepressant, due to its 5HT2A antagonism. it behaves something like Amisulpride. Anyone have tried this med? please reply. thanks!

Hi
I tried Orap back in the old days when there were no SSRI's available. It was my first encounter with psykofarmaka. I was on a low dose, as far as I remember 2 or 3 mgs.
It gave me very bad side effects. I got bad akathisia and I got rigid movements, shaky hands, blurred vision and insomnia.
I later received another medicine, I think it was clled Akineton, to counter the side effects of Orap. Still taking these two together was qite unpleasant.
If you look up Orap on Wikipedia you will see that it has got a long list og serious side effects.
I do not recommend Orap for anyone. It has got too many and too unpleasant side effects.

2 or 3 mg are very large dose, for me. I thought to take 0,5 mg, so Orap works as a stimulant, for ADHD too.

The pdoc never told me what the diagnosis was, but I would call it depression caused by stress.

It is an old anti-psycotic developed back in the sixties. I dont think it is used much any more.

Orap is rough stuff. Its largely used for Tourettes Syndrome, since the potent D2 blockade helps suppress tics and what not.
I wouldn't take it for depression, personally; its pretty rough and can cause intense dysphoria.
