I have been patiently waiting for generic extended-release venlafaxine to become affordable. At present, there is a capsule and a tablet, and both are over $100 for 30 on drugstore.com and Costco.com. I see some recent activity over at fda.gov. Aurobindo has tentative approval for an XR capsule dated 2/17/11. Sun Pharma and Dr. Reddy's also have ANDAs dated within the last year. I'm hoping competition will drive the price down soon.
Generic Wellbutrin XL recently dropped a bit. I think the generic companies are getting better at doing time release.

I've been buying generic effexor xr from canada for almost a year. It's pretty cheap. Are you referring to a generic that insurance will cover?

I would be paying cash. In the US it is steep.

I had to share that the price of generic Effexor XR finally dropped a few weeks ago. I had to look twice to be sure. You can see the cheap ones here:

Too bad I'm already stable on Celexa.
