Geodon hypomania?

Posted by sheilac on July 6, 2011, at 7:48:09

Does Geodon cause hypomania in lower doses? Like 40mg or 60mg?

I am now splitting the dose. 40mg at night and 20mg during the day. I guess maybe the night time dose is wearing off and I get a little hyper.

We'll see.

But no depression!

Just a really clean house!

I think I may need to go much higher in dose. We're just slowly working up to that.

I don't know about Geodon off hand, but very low doses of some other atypicals (zyprexa and risperdal, I think) have been linked to occasional episodes of (hypo)mania. I have no idea what happens in the brain to make that happen, but its been reported.

i have seen this mentioned in literature (that 40-80 is energizing, generally taken to be a bad thing for schizophrenics) but don't have any idea why. i suppose you would either take more, or take a small amount that would cause a desired amount of energy
