sorry for another post.
90% of my med trials have made ranged from making me a little more depressed to severely depressed.
Is this at all common? My dr. thinks I'm a unique/hard case.

You wrote,[...common?...]
There is a biochemistry involving mind-altering drugs. Now your question is one that could be answerd in many ways depending on a lot of factors.
Now in my experiance, I do not know one person IRL that has told me that they were taking psychotropic drugs that did not also say to me that they got more depressed after they took the drug. Others may know others that did not get depressed. But the PDR lists depression as a result of the drug in many drugs that have researched. There may be some drugs that do not list depression as an effect from the drug because I really have never made a list like that.
But then one could have a placebo effect at first and then go into depression. Or one could stay in a drug induced state until they have to stop the drug and then go into depression during withdrawal in many psychotropic drugs.
So to answer you question, I think that {common} couold be determined by you questioning others in your community that take these drugs and see if {commom} could apply as to f they get depressed after they take the drug. Your community may vary from others.

Those drugs that have been particularly harmful have included high-dose lithium, amoxapine, protriptyline, Provigil, Wellbutrin, T3, reboxetine, Neurontin, Lyrica, moclobemide, and placebo.
Well, maybe not placebo...

You are not alone. I have been dubbed hard to treat as well. A lot of meds give me the opposite reaction. My doc says that she has see in before in a small number of patients.
Things like Depakote and Lithium make me depressed, when they are supposed to help somewhat with depression. They just bring me too far down.

You can't be that rare of a patient. Antidepressants now have to carry scary warning labels about possible worsening of depression. "Mood-stabilizers" (at least the anticonvulsants) have warnings about increased suicide risk. Antipsychotics and lithium are notorious for causing drug-induced dysphoria. Benzos, of course, can cause or exacerbate depression.
I think maybe a lot of other patients don't complain (Dr.Peter Breggin has written about this) or maybe they get symptom relief that outweighs the side effects, or...the possibilities are endless.
You're not a freak, so don't worry.

Possibly triggering commentary....
The only time I have ever been actively suicidal was on lithium. I had had many episodes of suicical idiation, before and after, but lithium made me convinced death was the only option.

Are you still working on a combo, or have you found some that help?

From my experience following drugs and supplements have a negative or very questionable positive effect on the mood:
reboxetine
quetiapine (depends on the dose though)
clonazepam
L-arginine
pycnogenol

At what dose did you find quetiapine/seroquel negative? I know I've tried it & I remember agitation & akathesia. If I have ect, I need to take a break from xanax & that is one of the options (at a low dose)

If I have ect, I need to take a break from xanax & that is one of the options (at a low dose)I get depressed from almost anything that raises nitric oxide levels even when taking antidepressants. Arginine is one sure way to do that. Actually nitric oxide synthase inhibitors are currently researched as possible antidepressants because NO has inhibitory influence on dopamine and norepinephrine. Paroxetine is in addition to being an SSRI also a NO synthase inhibitor.
I really feel for the millions of people who stack on nitric oxide supplements for bodybuilding efforts and most don't have slightest clue that they're messing with their brain in a very wrong way.Seroquel makes me emotionally flat when going over 50-75 mg per day. But I've gotten the impression that this number might be higher if also taking an AD.
