I am back....trying a new round of meds....same problems...Mixed state...Lots of irritability and rage and snapping at others ....ANGRY and need help. Current combination
.5 mg Klonopin 2 times a day
10 mg Adderall 2 times a day
50 mg Pristiq 2 times a day
10 mg Ambien at night
I am worse as the adderall wears off and it seems like the Klonopin doesnt help AT ALL whereas 5 mg of librium and 2 mg of valium used to help.
IDEAS?

I know...I moved out of state ...have a new job,,,,lots to tell...was doing well til this mixed state hit me like a ton of bricks....worse every year. Vyvanse had bad side effects....jittery in evening and difficulty sleeping and new state has different insurance so not sure if it would be covered and yeah thinking of going back on valium....the klonopin seems non-existent to me....so strange.

Hi I have a different condition so not much help other than my son had issues with anger, focusing, paying attention. He had tried vyvanse but I got him off it cuz I don't care for amphetamines, however I switched him to tenex which is a different type of med (used to treat the same condition) and he is doing wonderful. only side effect is drowsiness over the first couple weeks. Tenex is a form of Guafacine (a blood pressure med) with off label uses for adhd. He is back to his sweet self again and is so happy now, no more anger, and he can focus and pay attention so much better.

just wanted to add if you tried the tenex or it's newer version of intuniv you would take this instead of the adderal. again treats the same condition but a totally different class of med. My son's rage, anger, lashing out disappeared and now he feels so much better and nothing but smiles.
best of luck

Adderall has bad side effects for me. Dexedrine is milder. The relationship between Adderall and Dexedrine is the same as Celexa and Lexapro. That and the "mixed salts" aspect, which a lot of people think is just a gimmick. Vyvanse is just a time-release version of Dexedrine, so it would be more likely to keep you awake.
Amphetamine is such a powerful drug that it probably overwhelms any effect from the Klonopin.
Best of luck with your med change.

Valium also has a tendency to hit all at once, whereas Klonopin kicks in slower.

> IDEAS?Ideas? Well, for starters, it does not appear that any of these current meds are doing you any favors. Just because these are new meds and they appear to be a decent cocktail means nothing. If they suck, they suck. It's no more complicated than that.
If you don't want to change anything right now, which would boggle my mind if that were the case, but ok, assume you don't want to change anything, then I woud get some Lemon Balm tincture and use as needed. Under the tongue it works fast. Very clean.
Personally I do not think either adderall or pristiq are sensible choices when irritibility/rage are issues. There are better options than that.

I agree with bleauberry, I've taken SSRI's, and NSRI's that actually caused anger and rage in me. However other than those isolated instances I don't suffer from this afflication but do know there are other class of meds. I took lithium for years and it is a wonderful mood stabilizer, you'll feel a difference with the very first pill and it's inexpensive, and can be used in combination with many other types of meds if needed. It's primary use is mood stabilization however it offers a big antidepressant effect. Bleauberry, can you tell me more info about the lemon balm you suggested??
thank you

Lithium, is an amazing mood stabilizer that also offers an anti depressant effect, see my post below

good luck, you may be familiar with mood stabilizers such as seroquel, abilify, which are AP class of meds, they work for some but I personally would try lithium first, very effective and does not alter your state of mind like other classes of meds like AP. whatever you try let us know how it goes and best of wishes. One final note lithium is often an add on med but can be taken alone and may provide full relieve, if not then take an add on med to the lithium, not vise versa, the reason I point that out is many meds can increase rage and be part of the problem.

Another babbler suggested risperdal as needed when I had some rage episodes last month. I feel better (not as in 'cured') so haven't tried it.
Each benzo is very different. Really, go back to your familiars?
Then when out of this crisis, maybe time to rethink your meds. There must be something inherently destabilizing in this regime (sorry, that last bit wasn't very helpful).
