Hi I was cured by Paxil for years and then it stopped, didn't matter the dose or any other combination. My condition is depression with SEVERE anxiety. No SSRI's (Paxil, lexapro, pristiq, luvox, zoloft etc) or NSRI's (wellbutrin, cymbalta, effexor etc) help. I'm currently taking lithium which only mildly helps with the depression and anxiety. I finally found a dr that is willing to start me on Nardil. My question is should I continue with the Lithium while adding the Nardil or discontinue the lithium and try nardil on it's own? Also she is starting me on 20mg 3X daily, is that a good starting dose?
thank you!

also I discontinued Luvox 2 weeks ago so I don't see a problem with an interaction there however I have been taken buspar for the last two weeks, how long should I be off buspar before starting my nardil?

I think its a good combo. I currently plan on restarting nardil in the fall, and combining it with lithium in particular, as well as lamictal and invega. I have been on the combo for a short time in the past and must say the lithium enhances the nardil pretty well. Only took 15mg of nardil at the time, but combine with the lithium it felt like i took 120mg of it. Great combo imo.

thanks so much for the info, one more question if you don't mind, the typical dosage of Nardil is 15mg 3X daily then quickly upped to 60mg daily. Do you think this is the best way to go? (I more or less have to tell my Doc what dosage as she has no experience with this med).

> thank you!Hey guy,
I've been on Nardil for over a decade and have studied it extensively. It is the only medication that has worked for me out of 45+ different combinations of antidepressants and augmenters. If your depression is atypical and treatment resistant, it is one medication that can work when all else fails. I haven't used Nardil with lithium or stimulants but that is about the only combinations I have not tried. I have combined it with nortriptyline, bupropion and other supposedly contraindicated medications. When taking MAOIs you have to take your self-education to the next level. There are very few people in the medical field that know the first thing about it. I live in Washington State. A pharmacist in British Columbia tried to kill me because of a complete lack of knowledge of the medication. They are used to the placebo Moclobemide up there. Anyway, I trust no one anymore, except my own extensive research. MDs can be the worse, because some have a very arrogant attitude. One psychiatrist, who I saw for nine months, would have let me die before putting me back on the only medication that ever worked for me; Nardil. I wrote extensive letters to find a MD who would trust my years of experience with the medication. When it is your life and if you are willing, you can know more than any medical professional about these meds. They just do not have the time to study it like we do. It is our life.
I would be very interested to hear how your Nardil/Lithium trial goes, should you decide to pursue it. I am still looking for an augmenter to help with my residual dysthymia. Nardil handles the major depression for me, but the low level dysthymia can keep me from appreciating life to the fullest.
