William was very touched when I told him of your responses. Very touched, he choked up. Thank you for caring and your responses, they mean the world to him. Being held at this time illegally in a nasty place, he should be able to come home March 9, at which time we will be married. I used to post at shasling, we met here on this board, saved one another's lives, and we have become soulmates, best friends and stupid in love :). Thank you psychobabble.

Thanks so much for the post! It IS in fact more than incredible! When we met here I was in Texas, he in Virginia, I'm significantly older, and a relationship did not seem viable due to the age and location difference. However, within a year or so of daily contact and after a couple visits to Virginia, I quit my job, leased out my house, sold my horses, packed up my stuff and moved to Virginia, where we are now. We truly saved one another's lives and are eternally grateful to babble. Once he gets freed from that which holds him, we have a great future to live.

Bob, sorry this has left the realm of medication, just went this way. I'm done, no more social boarding here. Thanks for not moving the post.

Willyees BBC interview

The cat being out of the bag as to identity, etc, in that this was on tv and remains on the net, I feel that I can disclose that the BBC came to interview Will at the jail where he is being held without EVER HAVING COMMITTED A CRIME. Once he is home safe, we have much following up to do with the BBC. Wish us luck; God knows how many poor souls are rotting away in jails, their only crime being mental illness. He was interviewed by the BBC for over an hour and we are requesting the entire interview. (Incidentally, they say he was put in an isolation cell AFTER assaulting an officer - incorrect. He was placed in that cell without his medication until he lost track of reality, the "assault" occurred BECAUSE he'd been in isolation for several weeks with no medication. Those of us here understand. Nuff said.) God willing, he'll be home in 14 days and he can follow up if there is an interest. We intend to make it an enormous issue so that what was done to him doesn't happen to others.

** Breakdown behind bars **
In the US the challenge of caring for the mentally ill is increasingly
falling on law enforcement - in particular, local jails. The BBCs Katie Connolly reports on how one jail is coping.

I used to work at VA Beach Jail part time in medical unit about 18 years ago. I was an RN there also my personal psychiatrist got me the job. One of the problems I saw was lack of staff. I working from ll am till ll pm. Was supposed to triage the inmates. Supposed to have a guard with me none available so did myself. Trustees were out of cells cleaning and I could have had horrible things happen to me didn't though. When visited the large cells with about 20 inmates I'd have to reach inside the bars and do Blood pressures and check things. I could have been strangled or had other things happen. But was okay worse that happened was verbal abuse. One of the problems was inmates selling their meds to other inmates for cigarettes and other things. True about pdoc once a week. At that time it housed Federal prisoners as jails were full. So murderers and the very worst also there. A Lot were street people who would get let out and be back the same day as they had three meals a day, a place to sleep as if not in isolation cots like bunk beds and TV's weight rooms, store to purchase items not provided. Not ideal but it wasn't that bad. Women segregated from males and teens kept in a differnt part of jail for safety. I worked there a few months and left for full time in private psych hospital. Thanks for posting the link. Phillipa

I wanted to add at the time I worked there there also were three private psych hospitals and one in a hospital and then across the tunnel more. I know two have now closed. We didn't have that many truly ill psych patients at the time but this surely must have changed unless new psych hospitals opened. Phillip ps babblemail coming

Well, they made him endure more incarceration, until the 14th so the a-hole DA could go on VACATION. seven more days... He is still touched and inspired by your support. Thanks again.
