ongoing vertigo/sense of balance

Posted by floatingbridge on February 12, 2011, at 16:50:40

Does anything stand out as causing this? Onset was Thursday evening massage in which my head and neck were not manipulated.

Massage?

Lyrica?

Cymbalta taper (this is not head zaps)?

My preeminent death?

Thanks.

You wrote,[...as causing this...(vertigo/balance)...].
There are very dibilitsting conditions that haave such as the symptoms. And there is a simple condition that could be treated right now and it will go away.
The condition can be caused by a change. standing, laying down, quick movement ect can bring this conditgion on. Other causes are more severe as in neurological conditions and such.
Here is a way that one can see if it is the simole condition that can be treated now. The theory is that there are particles in the inner ear that are disturbed and by positioning yourself accordingly, the particles will return to their natural state. Well, let's see;
1. ly on your side for 20 min.
2. then lay on your back 20 min.
3. then lay on your other side for 20 min.
4 return to laying on your back
When you feel like it, then slide off the bed easy and stand up and try to walk straight. If you feel better now, this is a benighn condition that can be treated as described. If not, there could be severe issues that need to be ruled out such as Miener's disease (sp)and nerve damage. Stopping psychotropic drugs can also be related here.

Lou Meneriges is a possibility as well as a med taper but this also happened to me when my thyroid was off. I had to take antivert. I was diagnosed in the ER as couldn't walk at all had to crawl to bathroom. Evidently when the docs shine the light in your eyes it causes the eyeball to act strange. Not dangerous but it sure made me tired. Some also vomit. Thankfully I didn't. Resting lying down or reclining helps. But fatigue is horrible at least was for me for a few weeks. No med taper at the time came out of nowhere. Diagnosis was vertigo. Google it. Thanks for a good answer for FB. Phillipa

Hi Lou,

Thanks for your response. The vertigo isn't severe and is decreasing daily, so I should probably stop calling it vertigo.

It came on suddenly after a massage. Very odd, so that should point to the massage. But she barely touched my neck and head. She did some intense
work on my hips and sacrum. For awhile afterwards, it wasn't like the room spun around me. Instead, it was like I lost my sense of my body in space. I had to suddenly reach out and hold onto things or I would just slowly tumble over. Maybe that plus the med taper.

I'm going to Google inner ear particles.

Thanks, Lou. Be well.
