for 49er: advice on cymbalta taper

Posted by floatingbridge on January 30, 2011, at 10:42:33

Hi 49er,

I read the posts between you and Scott regarding withdrawal protocols. Could you say more about the sorts of delayed symptoms that could show up, say 3 months or more after a taper? Are there ways you know or have heard about for addressing those delayed symptoms?

Right now I am tapering Cymbalta. I knew it was going to be a real bear, but only yesterday did I run into real trouble. I went
back up a little to where I was last reasonably comfortable

So, how long do I park here before I begin to start counting out sprinkles (I will). Should I go up a bit more?

Unless I decide to go on emsam, there isn't any more rush.

Thanks for your help.

FB sorry know this isn't for me. Don't bite the chips of the cymbalta mix in yogurt or something else or get gel caps to put them in. Sorry your're now having problems. Love Phillipa

Thanks. Other day so bad, I just put them in my mouth w/water & swallowed.

I hate this whole thing. (Like who loves it?)

2:00 am now, awake again at 1:30. Restless Legs feeling two nights running. I am purposely not going to the Lyrica page right now. Shouting I hate this 20x will not help with distress tolerance, will it? Arrrrgh.

So far. I feel a bit rudderless. More pain today; the kind I had forgotten :( Don't know how long till Lyrica kicks in. One week tomorrow. Thanks for asking.

Hi FB,

Some people have found magnesium and fish oil to be helpful. I can't honestly say it helped my withdrawal symptoms but of course, you never know until you try.

Unfortunately, during WD, the body is so sensitive that supplements, rather than helping, end up making things worse. Some things may work temporarily.

The symptoms could be almost anything such as depersonalization, impaired memory, brain fog, etc.

Regarding your updosing, I would stay there for about 4 to 8 weeks. I wouldn't go up more unless you simply feel horrible and see no signs of improving.

Then make about a 10% cut of current dose.

I am so sorry you're having problems. One reason I declined to switch to Cymbalta when I was on Wellbutrin was due to WD concerns.

Hope this helps.

Thanks 49er,

I'll discuss this with pdoc on Thursday. I knew I bought a dark ticket when I started pristiq, having had trouble years ago with effexor. The switch to Cymbalta was a desperate what the h*ll decision because of pain. What a jam.

Can I add a tca? Could it possibly help symptoms and maybe pre-existing pain?

Thanks again,

fb
