So my doctor decreased my zyprexa from 15mg down to 10mg again. I took 10mg of the old stuff I had been taking which was dated by the pharmacy to have expired 3 months ago. It was awfull, I felt like crap. So I wised up and took 10mg of new pills that don't expire untill 2013. Well I've done this for the last 2 days and I feel good again. So yes I think think the old stuff is less potent. This is something I've noticed is the past as well.

Three months shouldn't make a difference unless storing in moist enviorment or other not secure. I've taken pills over 2 years old and same. I wonder if it was your body getting used to a lower dose. How come you decreased the dose? Doing well? Phillipa

I was doing well, so doc decided I should try a lower dose. It turned out that older pills are less potent. I just keep them in my room, with AC or heat, with a incandesent in the bottle. I don't realy know how to explain it. These realy new ones are realy potent. I'm taking 10mg of it and feel like I'm on a 20mg.
I talked to my doc today and she didn't realy say weather to take the old or new ones. So I guess its up to me??! So, do I take the old ones and take 15mg or try taking new ones at 10mg. The only problem is I don't have many of the new ones. So I guess I'll have to take the old ones. Unless I can depend on doc to give me free samples. But I don't think she is going to have enough to last untill generic.

Maybe you could call the pharmacy and ask them abou the expiration date and what to expect.

Strange as sounds like you stored them well. I once was told that the expiration date is really a year after? So don't know. Anbiotics are a different story. They do decompose quickly. Phillipa

Took 10mg of the new stuff last night. This morning I was awake after 4 hours sleep and needed a drink realy bad.
I don't understand? 10mg used to work wonders for me, for so many years. Ever since I took that abilify for 6 months. And back on zyprexa, its like the zyprexa is weak now. Atleast I don't need 30-50mg zyprexa any more. But now I've needed 15mg for so long, and the addition of perphenazine. What happened?

Could zyprexa kind of cause tolerance? Or poop out. I don't know. But sounds like you now require a higher dose. A question for your doc. Was in your area in car yesterday you getting snow? Love Phillipa
