I started a low dose of Parnate, about 20mg, 3 days ago. I realize that medication takes time to work but there has been no therapeutic effects...just irritability. I haven't read many other posts where users of Parnate experienced this and was wondering if anyone else has any experience? If I feel no therapeutic effects, I would most likely have to increase the dose which, in turn, would most likely make me more irritable right?

It's pretty common for people starting antidepressants(especially SSRIs) to experience negative side effects like irritability with no therapeutic benefit for up to a few weeks before any therapeutic benefits are experienced. Stay with it and be patient. I'm sure your doctor already told you this. I know it must be frustrating though as drugs like Parnate are supposed to be fairly fast acting compared to other antidepressants.

I just started Parnate 5 days ago at 10mg, increasing to 20mg tomorrow, and it seems to make me more depressed as the day wears on. Nevertheless, I'm sticking with it. The lack of improvement in mood, for the time being, is hard, but most evidence points to theraputic effects kicking in after a few weeks. Everybody is different, so some people will get the benefit earlier than others. If the irritability isn't too much to bear, I would say stick with it a while longer.
