Zyprexa, when 'Generic form' comes to the market?

Posted by HappyGirl on December 9, 2010, at 9:22:08

Hi:
I've been taking 'Zyprexa' for many years and it's a 'life-saver' to my Bipolar II with rapid cycler. However, it's also a very expensive med., even though my current insurance paying.

Because, my health insurace changes in January, 2011, just wonder whether new pdoc. is willing to follow my med. combo., one of which is Zyprea.

Due to economical reason nowadays, I'm aware of 'price-cutting' methods among docs., including pdocs. For that reason, most of docs. prescribes 'generic form' or substitute med. as much as he/she can.

Just wonder when Zyprexa becomes 'Generic' and comes to the market in US?

Thanks,

The earliest possible date is October 2011. You can order generics from other countries, such as India. That's how I get my Abilify...its the same stuff and its relatively cheap.

Good luck.

Patents vary from country to country.

The money that canadians save on olanzapine can be put towards the treatment of the complications associated with its use.

Lilly have the best of both worlds. Zyprexa induced diabetes can now be treated with Lilly brand insulins. So many great products to choose from.

No doubt it doesn't work very well though. Anyway, I bet they won't be studying that anymore now that fluoxetine is generic.
