Claim was denied by medical insurance for lexapro which I've been taking said to take prescribed one from medicaire. Doc sent the form in and still denied so no point in taking any anymore. And can't get needy meds or what ever that is as own a house. So basically you have money to pay $110.00 a month which I Dont have or no meds. What if this was a cancer med or blood pressure or another still would be denied. So it's done. Phillipa ps just when was trying oh well withdraw now

Hi PJ,
Try not to be upset (is that possible?). You seem happier with Luvox anyway, so stick with that.

Hi, sorry to hear your claim was denied. Have you thought about trying Celexa? Are you looking for a replacement for the Luvox? Seems like combining two SSRI could be avoided, maybe just an adjustment in Luvox dose? herpills

This is just a hint of things to come if the national health care fiasco isn't majorly gutted and started over. You think this is bad, you aint seen nothin yet.
Any kind of nation sponsored health care has never worked as planned, including medicare.
When medicare takes over the role of a doctor, as in your case, it is sad but predictable.
Unintended consequences of otherwise well intentioned plans. Unfortunately, they never go back and fix the unintended consequences.
You asked what if it was a cancer drug or some life sustaining drug. Well, according to the actual wording in Obama care, there will be a panel of "experts" that decide whether your treatment is worth it or not, based upon how much it will cost, whether you are productive or not, and your age. People have denied death panels, but there it is.
That said, how friendly do you think those panels will be to someone's depression? Generic celexa instead of lexapro? Maybe neither, take XYZ instead. The panel will instruct the doctor what to prescribe for you. It's all in the bill.
Anyway, sorry Phillipa. I don't personally see Lexapro being any great drug for you, but still, it could have been, ya never know, but to have the choice stolen from you by elitist paper pushers is really sad.

In all civility would you take a med you took before that didn't work only cause it was on a formulary? I don't even understand the thought behind this. Third tier now in pdocs hands. Phillipa

I'm baffled about what civility has to do with a simple question.
Given your answer, I'm also confused. If it doesn't work, why do you want it? If it's about the claim that various drugs manufactured by certain companies "don't work." --I have to wonder about the basis for the claim.. What sort of trial did you give the drug before you decided it didn't "work"-- and how do you differentiate between your psychological reaction to the fact that a drug is made by company X not company Y, and a fear or idea that one of them doesn't or won't work?

Celexa doesn't work never said lexapro didn't.Lots of others have said the same about celexa which was horrible and the lexapro that I'm waiting to here about before raising the dose. Luvox no longer works. Nothing to do with the adminstation civility rules. I don't get involved with admin issues if can help it. Phillipa

But I was asking about lexapro. You answered that it didn't work and that's why you wanted this special prescription. Otherwise, I guess I don't' understand why you can't use medicare.
Maybe I've missed something in the thread.

My understanding is that the formulary of the contractor medicaire uses (in Phillipa's case anyway) only allows Celexa, not Lexapro.
At least that's how I read the thread.
Phillipa, hope you get what you'd like to try (or continue to try) without waiting too much longer. Hang in there.

thanks 10der,
I appreciate the explanation! I somehow missed that crucial information and was under a different impression, about what drug Phillipa couldn't get.

Sorry to interrupt, but I'd like to redirect follow-ups regarding national health care to Psycho-Babble Politics. Here's a link:

That'll be considered a new thread, so if you'd like to be notified by email of follow-ups to it, you'll need to request that there.
Please do feel free to continue this discussion there, and in general to explore the other boards here. Thanks,
Bob

Id look into trying some different celexa generics.
I also experienced better results on lexapro. May have been placebo, maybe not. May be that the celexa generics I took didnt agree with me.
Im currently having issues with wellbutrin generics, which I think is the release mechanism. Celexa has a long half-life so its less likely to be a generic issue. Still worth a try!

Stopped only 2.5mg for two days feel strange and wierd? Could it be lack of lexapro.Still have the 50mg of luvox and lmg xanax and 5mg valium. I just don't feel well. Think I should add it back in? If this really was starting to work the second tier 88 a month somehow will pay. Phillipa

I suspect that you will be back to normal in a few days.

And added it back hoping for the three day blip that some seem to have when they start a med. A trend I see where feel better first three days. Wonder if that's a placebo effect? But then a benzo works right away and the time took prozac first day felt so good so much energy. Love PJXXXX Merry Christmas Ed!!!!!
