I've been taking Adderall XR on and off and noticed swelling in the joints of the hands - fingers mostly. They even crack and pop when moving - this does not occur when I am not taking the medication (20 mg in am) ... I've read in few other posts of such symptoms (in ankle region) and also same when taking effexor or wellbutrin. I suppose they have similar mechanism of action on a receptor group responsible for this. I am thinking of possibility of some ingredient (known as inert) that might possibly could be the cause of such side effect. I had not had such experience initially when starting the medication, only after few years being on it I have noticed this. It's a bit alarming.
I've tried Vyvanse just for 30 days and do not recall having such side-effect. Among other benefits, as someone else stated, it was more of direct effect on cognitive function while not having the sympathetic effects on the whole body (increased heart rate, muscle rigidity, anxiety related to 'fight-or-flight feeling, mental fog while being alert at the same time) .
I would be happy if someone else would share their input.
This is the end of the thread.
