I started the Emsam patch on the 5th of November. I'm on 6mg/24hrs right now, although I'll probably have to up it. It's making my insomnia worse than usual and I'm (of course) getting redness under the patch that lasts after it's removed. Those are tolerable, at least for now, since I'm rather desperate for this to work. What I'm having trouble tolerating is the nausea. I feel incredibly ill in the mornings and after I eat during any time of the day. I can hold food down most of the time, but it's very unpleasant. I think this problem might be exacerbated by the fact I've got a rather nasty cold, and the mucus running down the back of my throat can make me nauseous... Hopefully, that's mostly what it is. I was wondering if anyone can say how long the nausea usually lasts. Is it a temporary side effect, or am I going to have to learn to deal with this if I keep on the patch?

I wouldn't think the nausea was related to the EMSAM as being applied to skin it should bypass the digestive system. Phillipa. And welcome to babble

I know it doesn't make a whole lot a sense, but it is a listed side effect. And not a terribly uncommon one, from what I've read.

Let's hope the nausea is temporary. Seems lots of meds have that effect during start up.
I'd be curious to hear how you do w/ it. I tend to think mostly those who experience a trial failure of emsam post.
I hope yours is a success story :)
The archives contain lots of information on topicals to deal w/ the infamous skin rash. Good Luck!
