Ketamine therapy for depression - referral?

Posted by Jason Jones on September 29, 2010, at 1:05:38

I have been suffering from treatment resistant depression and anxiety for about 20 years. I have tried countless drugs and supplements with no lasting improvement. There is a lot of information in the press lately about ketamine being used to treat treatment resistant depression with a very high success rate. Since ketamine is an FDA approved drug, this therapy is 100% legal as an off-label use. I live in South Florida, in the US, and I am unable to find a doctor in my area that offers ketamine therapy for depression. Internet searches turn up nothing. Can anyone recommend a doctor in my area or direct me to a resource where I can find one?

Thanks!
Jason

I would think that most doctors would not use ketamine for depression at this point.

It is still highly investigational. You may keep your eyes open for clinical trials involving ketamine, but I think that would be your only bet at this point.
