I am not sure about this whole Dexedrine thing. It was helping the first few days and now it is making me tired. Is that even possible? Why am I such a FREAK when it comes to meds?

I experienced exactly the same thing with Dexedrine.
You are not a freak. You are just a challenge. Remember, you have had a period of significant improvement until recently.

Couldn't it be mixed with adderall later on? One has to remember adderall increase norepinephrine more than dexedrine, so that could help keep one awake, but sometimes increases in norepinephrine can make one tired. I would try experimenting with adderall, Ritalin(I would research the generics to find a good one), or Wellbutrin SR(Watson generic), and see if those help. Wellbutrin XLcould actually help with preserving some of the antidepressant effect with the stimulants through out the day and give you more energy. I've never heard of it making people tired.

Dexedrine is generally used for attention deficit disorder (in adults and children). There is much less evidence for its use in mood disorders than in ADHD.
In people with ADHD, dexedrine does exactly that, slows motor activity not increases it.

It has happended again. I took my first dose because I slept until 11 am. I am so TIRED. Tomorrow I won't take and see if there is a difference. I have already written an email to my doctor asking him to send the appropiate forms to the government to get Adderall for me. I don't think that was making me tired.

Well, I sometimes get drowsy on adderall, which I think is 75% dexy.
I've fallen asleep after taking it.
I don't think it is that unusual of a side-effect. Especially for ADDers.

The medication has an interesting reverse effect. When it first begins to take effect when a dose is taken. It puts people in a sleep mode first. If you take a morning dose, set your alarm, take the med then role over and go back to sleep until waking up again.
The medication increases dopamine. Try not to bounce on and off but let your brain chemistry adjust before judging. Some of the trouble may be the unbalance between norepinephrine and dopamine. Be aware of severe depression low that can happen when taken off this medication.
I sure wish there a better way rather than trial and error. The different meds do shift brain waves. More study in that area might help someday and genetic.

Thank you for your post. If I took it and went back to sleep for a bit, I don't think I would ever get up. The Dexedrine doesn't have that much of an affect on me. I think I still need to play with the dosages.
