It's day 9 on this med and from day 2, the jaw clenching and tooth grinding began. I'm still only taking 150mg SR and got a toothache the other day. Yesterday another tooth actually cracked all the way to my gum line. So I saw the dentist today. Both teeth have cracked right through and one had a filling in it which got infected, because it cracked allowing air in and had to be pulled out.
This is what all SSRI/SNRI's did to me and I have lost heaps of teeth because of it. I have lost so many teeth to psych meds from jaw clenching it's not funny.
Ritalin never did this too me, I never got jaw clenching from it. Does anyone have any good ideas to augment ritalin for depression/ mild add? Should a give dexadrine a go?
Off to bed. Oxycodone and Digesic (Darvon) = shitfaced. It was a huge molar. The last one before wisdom, not that I have any of that.
RANT OUT

How about Remeron or lamictal? They have different mechanisms of action that may not cause teeth grinding. There is always the tricyclics and MAOi' antidepressants as well

I never grinded or clenched until I started taking lamictal. Yay!

I didn't clench my teeth on any but also none but that initial paxil and of course benzos worked for me. I used to clench teeth as a young adult. They do advise a tooth guard now for this. As for depression meds I didn't know wellbutrin was available there. Or is it just for use for not smoking? Phillipa

Sorry to hear of your reaction to bupropion.
Weren't you considering nortriptyline?

yes Ed I do think nortriptyline is next on the list.
Thanks to the others for their input. Avanza (Mirtazapine) was horrid and lacmictal did nothing until 150mg then it started to really agitate me.
Phillipa, Wellbutrin/Zyban is bupropion it's the same thing and is available all over the world.
This is the end of the thread.
