Luvox side effects duration

Posted by LongRoad on September 13, 2010, at 11:39:32

Been on most ADs all with varying success. Even in the best of scenarios, always some low-grade depression lurking just below the surface ready to be triggered by random situations/interactions.

So my latest is Luvox. (Also taking 45mg dex for ADD - have been on for a long time).

I've been cross-titrating between prozac and luvox. Just got up to 200 mg of luvox 4 days ago. Prior, had been on 150 for a week. The 2 weeks prior had done 25, 50, then 100.

So I've been on it for 5 weeks, but only at a therapeutic dose for roughly 2 weeks. My main question is what are the odds that some of these side effects will diminish or go away?

Namely:
the distance I feel from people and reality,
cognitive/focus difficulty and poor word recall,
bloatedness and constipation,
difficulty achieving orgasm

I know everyone is different and there's no way to know for sure what will go away and what won't - but I appreciate hearing people's experiences. Thanks.

Went I firt took luvox it was with ativan and got up to 250mg. I didn't have any bad side effects at all. I was happy when home and content to continue at this dose and this med. viola celexa came out and the pdoc needed people for a trial of it he snatched the luvox from me and since that time since celexa was horrible for me still on 50mg luvox. I don't know why but my both seems to like it. It also worked pretty quickly for me. Hang in there hoping things improve for you. Phillipa

Thanks. Phillipa. I think at this point I'm going back to Prozac. Especially considering that the sexual side effects have increased with the dose change of the luvox. That combined with feeling exhausted and mentally slow all the time has made this unworth it for me.

I was thinking of adding buspar to the Prozac to try to achieve the best of both worlds - but I've heard a lot of people say it doesn't do anything... Oh well

A little bit of buspar sorta potentiates prozac. Its worth a shot and if it helps, its cheap as hell. I'm not surprised about luvox. I have the same response to most SSRIs, spacey, tired, foggy thinking. Low doses of prozac don't do that to me.
