Post SSRI Side Effects---Do these help?

Posted by wzlong_D on September 1, 2010, at 9:15:38

First of all, Thanks for the warm help you offered in http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20100821/msgs/959898.html!

Today, I went to see a nerve doctor(who, however, doesn't seem to konw much about neurotransmitter type things) and a psychiatrist(who, just as I ecpected, diagnosed my problem as depression, and prescripted escitalopram, which I definitely will not take !!!).

Really despaired...

HAS ANY ONE EVER TRIED Ginkgo biloba?

HOW ABOUT Glutathione ? Pregnenolone ? curcumin ? EGCG? GM1 ? cerebrolysin ? DLPA?...What does LND stand for?

It seems that MDMA can cause some similar symptoms ...

last but not least: please don't hijack this thread...

I tried ginkgo. It can help some with energy if you get a good brand, but the thing is you might feel worse after you stop it. I found nature's way to be a good brand. You can go pretty high in dose. At higher doses it gives you so much energy that it might be hard to sleep, so when you get there work backwards. It doesn't feel like a stimulant or coffee though. I think it may be from an increase in oxygen to the tissues.

first you have depression, how many psychiatrist,s do want need to tell you.Second you wont take the meds an when you do. you either give up after a week,or take them when you want not as told to. You dont get better in a week on ad,s you get worse first, it takes weeks or month,s. Ssri syndrome you havent took enough to get such a thing if there is such a thing. All your symtoms point to depression ,so until you do what the doc say,s, an not what you think you have no chance.

Based on your symptoms, I think it might be worth a try. It doesn't normally cause much in the way of side effects.

Hi,

I tried a combination of a basic multi vitiamin, fish oil, small dose of alpha lipoic acid and acetyl carnitine for post psych med brain fog. Helped also greatly with mood.

It worked really well. The bad news it it caused insomnia. Sigh!

Maybe you would have better luck.

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person, and I'm sorry if this hurts you.

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express yourself, including a link to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Phillipa, I'm also sorry if you felt hurt.

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above post, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob
